On Thursday, September 1st, the Humane Society of Charlotte and CMPD Animal Care & Control teamed up again to show their commitment to improving the lives of companion animals in Charlotte at a press conference that was held at the Humane Society of Charlotte's Spay/Neuter Clinic located at 2646 Toomey Avenue.  The event was held to launch Partnership for Pets - Charlotte, a co-branded marketing campaign to educate the community about the ways everyone can help build a better community for animals.

Partnership for Pets is a joint project between the Humane Society of Charlotte and CMPD Animal Care & Control that was made possible by a $100,000 grant from the George D. Patterson Family Fund with the Foundation For The Carolinas.  It was granted to specifically increase awareness in Charlotte regarding the issues surrounding animal welfare and to get the community engaged in solving the problem of pet overpopulation.  The campaign hopes to educate the community about several key topics inclcuding spaying and neutering, adopting pets, volunteering and donating to help animals.

"If we can reduce the number of animals coming into our shelter system (over 20,000 last  year) it will assist in reducing the costs associated with each animal and decrease the burden on tax payers in our community", says Shelly Moore, President & CEO of the Humane Society of Charlotte.  "This campaign will help educate community residents on how they can help decrease the number of homeless animals in our community says Moore.

The long-term vision of this project will be to build a collaborative network of other animal welfare organizations, rescue groups and pet loving businesses in the Charlotte community who want to come together to make a difference in lives of pets.
