Chi-Lai
Once known as a trouble kitty, Chi-Lai has a new outlook on life; welcoming visitors by showing affection and is always ready to give love to anyone. She's very intelligent and understands commands such as "come" and "sit". She loves watching birds and exercising on her catnip filled scratching post. To me, she is the most gentle cat with a heart of gold and I couldn't have asked for more in a kitty. Thank you, Humane Society of Charlotte.
Adopted April 2011
Kayme
There is NEVER a dull moment when Kayme is around! Jen B. did a great job in the adoption process and Robin overcame all of the objections I might have had. I was told Kayme might take a while to become acclimated to my house but within a few hours of having her home she was on the back of the couch with her head on my shoulder. She's a different cat since leaving the HSC. Now she runs the house and I believe she thinks she owns the place. I am so glad that I got Kayme; we are getting along fine!
Adopted April 2011

Kamala
Kamala is enjoying her forever home and though I've only had Kamala for a couple of months, it seems as if we've always been a part of each others lives. She follows me wherever I go, "chatting" the whole time. She wakes me each morning by walking up my pillow and greets me each day when I come in from work and 'tells' me about her day. Her latest thing to do is use her teeth to pull a hair brush from a basket on to the floor and drag it to me so that I can brush her. Kamala is amusing, affectionate and as all cats, independent when she wants to be. She brings me such joy and I feel truly blessed to have her in my home.
Adopted April 2011

Susie formerly Janie
I like my new home. I am learning to play with toys and play with them while my mama goes to work. Since I have been good I am allowed in the livingroom on the couch all the time. I even sleep there. I am eating and drinking very well. I have new stainless steel bowls and a placemat with my name.
So far I come when I'm called. I'm still working on sit, stay and down. I get lots of treats when I'm good. I have only barked one time when a big black dog came up on my patio. I showed my mom I could be very loud. However, I haven't barked since.
Adopted July 2010

Cosmo
I just wanted to give you an update on Cosmo. He is an awesome companion and the star of our neighborhood. He is just awesome! House trained for sure, very energetic, playful, loves to walk on a leash (twice a day minimum) and is a beautiful dog. Cosmo has been a perfect addition to my home.
Adopted July 2010

Legolas formerly Aubrey
We thought you would like to see how Aubrey (who we have renamed Legoas) is doing 2 months later. She is very happy and playful. She likes to capture the catnip mice and hide them away and she loves to talk. This look is because I'm taking her photo rather than rubbing her face. She would like to have that done 24/7. Thanks for everything
Adopted June 2010

Chloe
My name is Chloe Cannon. I lived at your shelter for a short period of time and wanted to thank you for all the love and support you gave me, especially Paul. When I first saw my new family I barked a lot to warn them I was scared and nervous. You told my new family to be patient and to sit by my cage. They took the time to get to know me and you could tell they would be a good match for me.
Since you last saw me I have been doing very well. I have a loving family now. They tell me everyday how much they love me. I have three soft beds and lots of toys. I get to eat the best meals, and the kids sneak me snacks. I get to go on long walks around the lake with my dad and play with the neighborhood kids.
So thank you Mr. Paul for introducing me to my new family. They are the best and you are the best for finding me this new home.
Adopted May 2010

Spade
We adopted Spade in May and she is doing Great. It didn't take long for her to warm up to the kittens who love that they have a "heater" to sleep with. She has been joined by 2 new rescue puppies as well and seems to take on the mom figure with her two new sisters. She enjoys frequent trips to the dog park, Panera Bread, the beach, the mountains, and even enjoyed watching the fireworks in Charlotte on 4th of July. We couldn't have asked to find a better baby to make us happy.
Adopted May 2010

Flossie
I just wanted to send you a great picture of Flossie! She is doing extremely well. She has truely become my best friend in such a short time, and she brings so much joy to my life. We both owe the Humane Society in Charlotte so much gratitude. Thank you for all of your kindness and generosity. I look forwardd to sharing more stories and pictures of Flossie with you as she grows.
Adopted June 2010
Trixie formerly Revlon
Hi I was adopted from the Humane Society of Charlotte on June 24th. My name was Revlon, but once I got situated my mommy could tell that I am a show off who loves to learn tricks. So my new name is Trixie! I am a big cuddle-bug and very sweet natured. I've already learned how to walk on a leash and am almost house broken. I have a comfy bed that is filled with my favorite toys. I got to go to PetSmart to pick them out myself, including my favorite monkey. I have feline friends, Roxy and Josie and Moe (Moe was adopted from the Humane Society) at my new home. While we may not be the best friends, they seem to be doing fine with a dog in the house and they keep me company during the day when mommy is at work. I discovered bones and I HEART them! MilkBones are yummy. Nylabones are really good when I'm in the mood to chew. It's fun to bury them around the house and then play detective to sniff them out. I especially love to have bones in my kong with a little peanut butter.
Adopted June 2010

Meyer formerly Apollo
It has now been about four months since Meyer became a part of our family. The dogs continue to get along well. They love their dialy walks and playing outside, but prefer taking naps under the ceiling fan indoors. Meyer has reached a good weight. He is such an active guy, I don't think we could ever fatten him up. His little "butt wag" alone must burn at least 500 calories each day. An unexpected bonus, Meyer has helped keep Gator's weight down too. They are both in great shape
Adopted February 2010

Fletcher
It has been a year since we adopted our wonderful boy Fletcher. We just wanted to say thanks again for the amazing service that you provide for Charlotte.
Adopted June 2009

Oreo formerly Parady
We have had Oreo for about a month and a half now and she is doing great! She adjusted immediately and loves her new home. She had gotten much stronger and her back legs and eyesight seem to be just fine now with no problems. She loves wrestling and pestering her new sisters and she has made many friends in the neighborhood. She is very sweet and everyone that meets her things so too!
Adopted March 2010

Cody formerly Dozer
I just want to thank you for saving my life. I am now in a home where love, treats, toys and hugs abound. I thought you'd like to see my Garden of Eden. My mom is sending a picture of me. In fact, my mom is so grateful for all you do, and for me. She loves me very much. Thank you, Cody and my Mom.
P.S. I'm still on probation with "the cat", but we seem to be working things out. All she has to do is just play with me.

Brandy formerly Vespa
Brandy has been a lovely addition to our family. From the first night, she slept peacefully through the night with no accidents in her kennel. She was very easy to housetrain with only a few accidents. She has learned to sit, lay down, and shake on command. She is now 8 months old and still has a lot of puppy energy. She has daily walks and playdates with the neighbor's dogs. She loves a Yellow Lab and Golden Retriever and gets a long with them great. She is a wonderful playpal to my two children and a constant loyal companion for me when they are at school. We also have nicknamed her Radar. When we drive up and she is in the backyard, she will come up to the fence with one ear completely up and the other one flopped down. She is truly one of a kind. Thank you for allowing her to complete our family. We are forever grateful!
Adopted November 2009

MamaYango formerly Scarlet
In March we adopted MamaYango (which means Oh My! in Swahili) and she is a lovely, lively, intelligent and pretty cat . During the first week here I thought she was going to tear down thehouse. We had to retrieve her from the back of the refrigerator, the dishwasher and very high shelves. Now she has calmed down, she is very playful and is becoming more and more affectionate. She purrs as soon as I touch her and she speaks to me when she wants attention. Thank you for keeping her alive for 6 months when nobody wanted her.
Adopted March 2010

Mable
Here are some pictures of our little girl playing in the backyard. She is a happy, energetic and very smart puppy. She is already house broken and playing fetch.
Adopted April 2010

Bella (formerly Tara)
Bella is loving her forever home. She has adjusted wonderfully! She wasn't socialized with other dogs when I first brought her home. However, I acquainted her with a lab puppy in our building and they have become the best of friends. Soon after that friendship was made, I felt comfortable enough taking her out to Fraizer Park to mix and mingle. Now she is a regular there. She's also the perfect running buddy. She never runs out of energy and is always ready to go. I couldn't have asked for a better dog or love her any more than I do. I'd like to thank the Humane Society for taking such good care of her until I found her. You are all a blessing!
Adopted January 2010

Rob Roy
Thank you for following up on Rob Roy. He is one great dog and became a member of our family instantly. He is a good companion for our other dog Rusty. Rusty was adopted from the Rockingham County Animal Shelter and before we rescued him he had been abused. He is still a little shy, but Rob Roy has made a big difference in his life. Rusty is slowly beginning to trust other people besides Cathy and me. We believe its because of the companionship of Rob Roy.
Thanks for the wonderful work you do rescuing our animal friends.
Adopted February 2010

Hodge
Thanks for your help with the adoption of Hodge. He is adjusting very well and he has been lots of fun to get to know. I wanted to give you a humorous update on him. When he got home he was introduced to our 3 level townhome. He did not leave the first floor for his first 5 hours because he was scared of the stairs. It took my female Weimaraner, Sky, to coax him up the stairs. He is very playful and protective. He is learning to respect kids and other boundaries. Mostly he is very gentle though. He is walking much better on a leash and he sits on command sometimes. We are enrolling him in some training next month.
Adopted February 2010

Archie
A quick update on Archie (formerly Nudge). He is a wonderful dog, full of puppy love and so smart and kind. He was crate trained in one day and potty trained in less than a week. He definitely has his moments of "freshness", which is a sign that he is a happy and healthy pup, and welcomes our guidance and discipline which creates order in his world and ours. He is a riot and growing like a weed. We are committed to our life with him and he fills our hearts with laughter and love. I want to make a special mention of "Guy" who introduced us to a number of dogs and was so helpful and patient. We were so impressed with the facilities and the care of the large volume of animals you manage.
Adopted February 2010

Lexee
Lexee wakes Brodee and Marlee up every morning and is always so excited to lick their faces. I even think I may have some competition with my husband. He calls her "his girl". She has also claimed her spot on the couch, especially during animal planet. We are so thankful Lexee has become a part of our family.
Adopted December 2009

Lola
Lola is doing well and growing like crazy. She is so silly. We would love to see some pictures of her brother. (Lola was bottled fed by Linda, one of the Customer Service Reps)
Ella Lynn formerly Seneca
I adopted a puppy from the Charlotte Humane Society about 6 months ago. I wanted to write in and say thank you from the bottom of my heart. This little puppy, who was rescued with a severe case of Parvo along with her brothers and sisters, brings joy to my heart every single day. I have always been a dog person, and have had dogs from breeders before, but it is something about this little girl that has a special place in my heart. Maybe its because she came from such a harsh life, or that I think she kind of picked me the day I went to visit her at the shelter. Maybe is because she is an amazing dog that got a chance. I'm so grateful for what you and your company do. If I could adopt every single dog in the shelter, believe me I would, but this one is perfect for right now!
Adopted July 2009
Diesel formerly Lowell
Lowell is now named Diesel! We all love him very much. He is doing great! He loves the kids and is quite the lap dog. (He really likes full body massages too!). He had his first vet visit this past weekend and he got an "A" on all counts. He is now up-to-date on his shots. He does seem timid when he eats yet he is already over 20 pounds. He does pretty well with potty training. He has had a few accidents, but overall doing great. Thank you for all your help with our new family addition.
Adopted December 2009

Cami
I wanted to send you a Cami update. She is doing extremely well. Attached is a photo of her on the couch. Her choice last evening. she has not figured out how to potty outdoors yet, but she loves our cats as well as their toys. We will stay in touch during her growth with our family. We absolutely adore Cami.
Adopted January 2010
Bear & Bruno
They are loving their new home! They love their new yard and had a grand time running around. They did great in the house, too. Bear slept in our room in his new temporary bed and Bruno slept right outside the bedroom door. When I woke up in the morning they were in the bed together. Bruno has warmed right up and loves his rubs. I think they are happy to be home with their new mom and dad. Thank you all for bringing us our new babies, we were feeling so lost without our Dixie Dog and I know she would have been great friends with Bear and Bruno.
Adopted January 2010

Baley
Thought you might like to see Baley's Christmas picture. We took Baley to his first agility trial this weekend. Baley was the hit. Everyone that saw him wanted to take him home. I was lucky to get out of there with him. Even the ones that I didn't show him to went and got their friends and brought them back to see him. He really is doing good. Now that it has started to warm back up I am going to start working him a little more. Will keep you posted on our progress.
Adopted December 2009
Bastet
We adopted Bastet in September. We wanted to give you an update on her first trip in the motor home. She loves checking out the birds as she enjoys the view over the Gulf of Mexico at the Ho-Hum campground in Apalachicola, FL. She is so gentle and sweet and we discovered she loves to travel. Thank you again for our girl.
