school tours

Thank you for your interest in helping the Humane Society of Charlotte. Over 2,000 animals enter our facility each year in need of a second chance. We feed them, medicate them and keep them safe. Your students can help save lives of homeless animals by holding and in-kind donation program.

We use over 3,400 rolls of paper towels, 2,500 litter pans and enough dishwasher detergent to wash over 6,200 loads of food bowls each year at our shelter. That adds up to a lot of money spent on everyday products.  And that’s how your students can help! By creating a donation drive, your students are actively engaged in a community service project that has a real impact on the lives of homeless dogs and cats here in Mecklenburg County.  And they can earn a tour of the shelter.

Please note:

  • Due to the number of requests we receive, please try to schedule tours at least one month in advance.
  • We rely on the kindness and generosity of our volunteers to fulfill your request.  We may not be able to fulfill all of the requests we receive.
  • Tours usually last 30 to 60 minutes.
  • At least one adult must be present for every 10 children

Thank you again for all your efforts on behalf of the animals at the Humane Society of Charlotte.
