scout patches

gs_troopThe Humane Society of Charlotte is pleased to offer the Pet Pals Patch for Girl Scouts.  There are a minimum number of lessons in kindness to animals the girls must complete in order to earn their patch. The program and all the lessons are age appropriate for grades K-3, 4-8, and 9-12. The scouts will learn things like how to be safe around animals, how to properly care for a pet, the importance of having proper identification on pets, and many other ways to be a pet advocate.

Leaders, this patch can be completed during your regular troop meetings.  Your final two lessons may be done here at the shelter in conjunction with a shelter visit.

Education programs can be scheduled by using this form. Once completed, purchase patches for your troop for $3 each.

  • Due to the number of program requests we receive, please try to schedule programs at least one month in advance.
  • We rely on the kindness and generosity of our volunteers to fulfill your request. We may not be able to fulfill all the requests we receive.
  • Programs usually last 45 to 60 minutes include a video, age appropriate activity and a tour.
  • Our programs are designed to be presented to one class-sized group at a time (fewer than 12 scouts).
  • ONLY the girls working on their badges and their leaders can attend.
  • Please be aware and understanding of the need to restrict where and when animals make appearances. The well-being of our animals is very important.
  • Thank you again for all your efforts on behalf of the animals at the Humane Society of Charlotte.
